Why I Created This TikTok

I made this TikTok because I really, really, really want you to take artificial intelligence (AI) seriously. My goal is to spark your intellectual curiosity enough to investigate, engage, and learn. AI has immense potential, and I want you to explore how it can be applied in your life.

I’m not trying to be hyperbolic, even though there’s a lot of hype and misinformation out there. Many grifters and misleading narratives exist, but my message is simple: take AI seriously.

The Myth of “Too Old to Learn”

I’m 40 years old, and I know many people feel like they’re too old to learn new skills or that they don’t have time to invest in something unfamiliar. But I’m here to tell you that it’s not too late. Technology offers tools that make learning accessible and transformative.

I started my TikTok to be one of those trustworthy voices, sharing what I learn about technology and AI as I go.

My AI Journey

Since November 2022, when ChatGPT first launched, I’ve learned more in two years than in the previous decade. I’ve used AI tools to create projects, build skills, and expand my understanding of technology. Here are some highlights:

• Writing and Research: I’m working on a book about generative AI in higher education, complete with frameworks for human-AI collaboration and a new taxonomy for education.

• Coding Skills: Six months ago, I didn’t know what GitHub was or how to use it. Now, I have repositories, build front-end applications, and even designed my personal resume site from scratch.

• Project Development: I’ve launched apps, used APIs, and explored platforms like Anthropic Console and OpenAI’s tools.

This progress blows my mind. If I can do this, you can too.
